Geography fieldwork Flashcards
What was the physical hypothesis?
The groynes at Southwold stop longshore drift.
Reasons for location choice.
Able to get there and back to school in a day- enough time to prove/ disprove hypothesis.
Risk assessment for Physical.
Tide coming in- risk of drowning- check tide times
Physical- map shows, dis & ad
Shows location we are visiting.
A)Shows how far from school we are so we can decide good times to travel.
D) map from 2015
Physical methodology:
Measured groyne drop height on north and south side.
used pragmatic sampling, measure 5 groynes work out greatest drop height.
P) A & D of our sampling
A) repeated to remove anomalies and bias.
D) not completely accurate as we only went on one day.
Physical conclusion-
South side drop height is greater.
P) A & D of bar graph
A) easy to read D) doesn’t show difference
P) hypothesis T/F
T
Human fieldwork hypothesis:
Environmental quality is negatively affected by tourism in Southwold.
H) what method was used to prove/ disprove your hypothesis?
EQS survey in multiple places.
H) How is your method reliable?
Because each set of data followed the same pattern.
H) What is a disadvantage of your method?
because it is subjective.
H0 How could your method be more reliable?
If it was repeated o multiple days as weather may have influenced opinion. - improve sampling method.
How was the data presented?
Radar graph. ( shows comparisons clearly.)
