Q

Why did we choose the river Ashbrooke (Reasons we chose to go there)

A

1) It is managed by the national trust so the site has safe paths that are well maintained, allowing safe access to the river when collecting data
2) Carding Mill valley is 1 hour and 20 minutes away from school to enough time to travel to and from the site in a day and collect the data required to answer the enquiry question
3)There is easy and safe access in terms of depth and velocity and lots of suitable data collection points across the course of the river within easy reach
4)We can analyse the upper middle and lower course of the river in 1 day

Q

Explain 4 risks and how can we avoid them

A

1)Slipping and falling on wet rocks - When collecting data and walking to different courses of the river the rocks are wet and slippery. We can avoid this by wearing sensible footwear such as hiking boots and wellies with strong grip and being careful with where you step
2) Falling on sloped surfaces - You might fall when walking between the courses of the river due to the change in gradient
3)Drowing in the river - When collecting data
