Q

How do ice cores help us to know past climates?

A

Air bubbles are trapped and have carbon dioxide which means more Co2.
More CO2 = warming.

Q

How do historical sources help us to know past climates?

A

You could look back at diaries, paintings, pictures ect and see the differences of how it was then to how it is now.

Q

Explain how increasing price of fuel helps to reduce the impacts of climate change.

A

Increasing the price of fuel makes people not want to use vehicles as much because the prices have gone up.

16
Q

How is carbon dioxide emitted?

A

Through burning fossil fuels, solid waste, trees and other biological materials.

17
Q

How are hydrocarbons emitted?

A

Burning fossil fuels, including gasoline in automobile engines

18
Q

How is nitrous oxide emitted?

A

Nitrous oxide is emitted during agricultural, land use, and industrial activities; combustion of fossil fuels and solid waste; as well as during treatment of wastewater

19
Q

Explain the Green house effect in 6 points

A

Electromagnetic radiation at most wavelengths passes through the Earth’s atmosphere.
The Earth absorbs most of the radiation and warms up.
The Earth radiates energy as infrared radiation.
Some of the infrared radiation goes into space.
Some of the infrared radiation is absorbed by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
The lower atmosphere warms up.

20
Q

What is the thermohaline circulation?

A

Thermohaline circulation is a part of the large-scale ocean circulation driven by global density gradients formed by surface heat and freshwater fluxes.
