Living things like animals and plants.

Non-living things like sunlight, water, and soil.

Living things need non-living things to survive, like water and sunlight.

Rainforest, desert, tundra, savanna, forest.
What biome is the Amazon?
A rainforest.
Where are rainforests?
Near the equator.
What are the rainforest layers?
Forest floor, understory, canopy, emergent layer.
What’s on the forest floor?
It’s dark and has rotting plants.
What’s in the understory?
Small plants and animals that like shade.
What is the canopy?
A leafy roof where lots of animals live.
What’s the emergent layer?
The tallest trees.
What’s the weather like in rainforests?
Hot and rainy all year.
Why do rainforests get lots of rain?
Warm air rises, cools, and makes rain.
What’s a tundra?
A very cold place with no trees.
