A large area of nearly flat land.
Plain
A large body of salt water; oceans cover much of Earth’s surface.
Ocean
A body of land nearly surrounded by water.
Peninsula
An area of elevated flat land.
Plateau
A fertile area in a desert that is watered by a spring.
Oasis
A body of land completely surrounded by water.
Island
An area of low land between hills and mountains.
Valley
A high land form with steep sides, higher than a hill.
Mountain
A stream of water that flows across the land and empties into another body of water.
River
A dry environment with few plants and animals.
Desert
All the surroundings of a place including water, plants and animals.
Environment
A feature of earth’s surface, mountain, plains, plateaus
Landform
The natural plant life of an area.
Vegetation
An area with common features that set it apart from other areas.
Region
The weather pattern area has over a long period of time.
Climate
Runs east and west and measures the distance north and south of the equator.
Latitude
Height above sea level.
Altitude
Rivers running through the ocean.
Ocean Currents
Shows land divided into different countries or areas. They can also show political borders, capital cities and important cities.
Political Map
Shows the natural features of the earth
Physical Map
A natural resource that can renew, rebuild or replace itself given enough time.
Renewable Resource
A natural resource that cannot renew, rebuild or replace itself.
Non renewable resource
Living and non-living things made by nature that are useful and helpful to humans.
Natural Resource
The way of life of a group of people.
Culture
All the accomplishments, learning, achievements and inventions of one culture that are passed down from generation to generation.
