  1. Many government leaders had spent years fighting for independence yet had no experience running a country.
  2. Many people did not have the education to run a country.
  3. After they granted their colonies independence, the Europeans did not help with the transition
  4. Their countries were not stable
  5. Many governments were taken over by military with no elections + few rights
  6. Many government leaders were often corrupt, spending money on illegal bank accounts, families, palaces, military equipment, etc.
