allele definition?
a different type of gene/ alternative gene.
homozygous meaning?
having 2 of the same alleles.
heterozygous meaning?
2 different alleles.
dominant allele meaning?
the one that shows up
recessive allele meaning?
the one that is overpowered by the dominant allele
what is the dominant allele represented with?
an uppercase. ‘C’
what is the recessive allele represented by?
a lowercase, ‘c’
how do u get a dominant allele to show up?
you need to have the capital displayed, even if its just one, cus it still overpowers the recessive allele. ex: Cc, OR , CC
how would u get a recessive allele to show up?
you need a double lowercase, meaning no dominant allele showing up. ex: cc ONLY
