* Peri-hepatitis (Fitz Hugh Curtis syndrome)

* PROM
* Preterm Delivery
Diagnosis of Chlamydia?
endocervical or vulvovaginal swab for nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT)
Management Of Chlamydia?
Non-pregnant patient - Doxycycline 100mg BD for 7 days
Pregnant patient – Erythromycin 500mg BD for 10-14 days
Complications of Gonorrhoea?
Gynae complications
* pelvic inflammatory disease (10% of cases progress to PID)
* Bartholin’s or Skene’s abscess
* dissemination of the infection
* tubal infertility
* ectopic pregnancy
Obstetric complications
* preterm rupture of membranes
* preterm delivery
* chorioamnionitis
* neonatal conjunctivitis (40-50%)
How does disseminationof a ghonorea manifest?
Risk Factor?
Disseminated gonorrhoea – fever, pustular rash, septic arthritis, migratory polyarthralgia
C6-C9 complement deficiency is a risk factor for dissemination
Ghonorea Treatment?
Ceftriaxone 500mg IM stat (Pregnant/Non)
Contact tracing and treatment of partners and former partners
Symptoms/Signs of Pelvic Inflamatory Disease?
Symptoms – pelvic pain, deep dyspareunia, vaginal discharge, irregular menstruation, intermenstrual bleeding (IMB) or postcoital bleeding (PCB)
Signs – cervical excitation (pain with movement of the cervix), uterine or adnexal tenderness
