Q

outline the role of genetics

A

there are 23 pairs of chromosomes,
there are 2 types of sex chromosomes (X and Y),
at 6 weeks differentiation of genitalia occurs,
Y triggers synthesis of HY androgen which leads to the development of testes

Q

outline the role of hormones

A

the testes produce testosterone which is part of the male reproductive system,
the testosterone makes the right side of males brains thicker hence they are more aggressive,
females therefore have a thicker left so they are better at verbal tasks,
AIS occurs when a genetic male is insensitive to effects of testosterone
