what are allozymes ?
enezymes that have slight mutations in an a.a which alt the structure
how can you see allozymes ?
they move at different speeds through agar gel
what are the limitations with using allozymes ?
limitations to the amount of mutations that can occur and the enzyme still work, doesnt pick up silent mutations
what is RAPD ?
Random amplification of polymorphic DNA
what are micro satellites ?
repeating sections of DNA- DNA polymerase makes mistakes when making the copies leading to people having various amounts
whats sanger seq ?
use PCR to make copies of a loci by use fluorescent nucleotides to add one base at a time so you can work out the seq of DNA
how does next gen seq work ?
seq millions of regions all at once on a glass slide
