What is turners syndrome?

A

‘An inherited condition that only afects girls. Girls tend to be shorter than average and their ovaries don’t develop properly so they may not have periods and usually can’t get pregnant without help.’

What is klinefelters syndrome?

A

An inherited condition that only afects boys. Babies may take longer to learn to crawl or walk, children may have trouble concentrating and teen- agers grow taller than expected for the family. Most men with Klinefelter’s will need help if they want to father a child.’

What is down’s syndrome?

A

‘People with Down syndrome have an extra copy of a chromosome. Tey are likely to have some degree of learning disability and may take longer to learn to crawl and walk. When they grow up, they may be shorter than average height. Tey may have other problems for example with their heart, and may get more infections.’

What is Edward’s syndrome?

A

‘A rare but very serious condition which afects how long a baby may live and very sadly most babies will die before or just afer being born. A few babies will live to become children, but may have learning disabilities and problems with their heart, chest, kidneys and digestive systems.’
