What is the story of genesis two?
God makes the world and plants Eden, he then makes a man out of the soil who he allows to name all the animals, god warns Adam to not eat the forbidden fruit and creates eve from Adams rib
The problem of cains wife
If Adam and eve were the first humans created and only had two sons where did cain’s wife come from?
This means cain could’ve taken his sister (not mentioned in bible) as his wife or that there were other people (also not mentioned) at the time of Adam and eve
What is literalists reply to the story of cains wife?
It was a different time and a different set of rules (doesn’t force literalists to say incest is okay)
Just because other people weren’t mentioned doesnt mean there is a reason to doubt the overall truth of the bible
What is Liberal Christians response to the problem of cains wife?
Adam and eve is a metaphor for gods relationship with humans and the Bible is just a simplified story from God to help us understand
