Q

Extinction factors

A

Changes in the physical environment (polar bears)

Competition from other organisms (grey and red squirrel)

Disease (Darwin frogs)

Human activities:

  1. Hunting ( rabbits)
  2. Habitat clearance (amazon rainforest)

Q

Natural selection

A

Individuals in a specie have different characteristics

The environment changes so certain genetic characteristics are needed

The ones which have the ‘favourable’ characteristics survive and reproduce to pass the characteristics.

The next generation has a higher % of these characteristics.

Q

Why preserve biodiversity?
