Q

What is an intron?

Genes and Chromosomes

A

Sections of DNA in eukaryotes that don’t code for polypedtides of functional RNA
Introns are removed in protein synthsis
Prokaryotic DNA has no introns

Q

What are homologus chromosomes?

Genes and Chromosomes

A

Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes
The pairs of matching chromosomes are homologus pairs
In a homologus pair both chromosomes are same size and have same genes but could have diff alleles
Alleles coding for same characteristic are found in same locus on each chromosome in the pair
