What does absolute value mean?
The amount of the number without any positive/negative signs (e.g. the absolute value of -7 would be 7)
What does coefficient mean?
The number you multiply an unknown (variable) by (e.g. the coefficient in the expression 2x is 2)
What does variable mean?
An unknown value in a math problem
What are consecutive numbers?
Numbers that appear directly before or after each other in a sequence
What does constant mean?
A number that is separate from any variables
What is an expression?
Any piece of a math problem that’s not set to equal something else (e.g. x + 5 = ? would be an equation but x + 5 would be the expression)
What is an equation?
A math problem set to equal something else
What does constant of proportionality mean?
Scale factor: the way your output changes consistently based on your input (e.g y = 4x 4 would be the constant of proportionality)
What does E mean?
Represents the number ten to some power
What is an exponent?
The number of times a number is multiplied by itself
What is a function?
Equation that represents the change between your input and your output
