Q

Why do you want to work for the BEIS Science and Innovation for Climate and Energy (SICE) Directorate?

A

My primary interest is climate action

Pursuing a career in energy over other sectors because:

  • Is the foundation for modern society
  • Powers the economy
  • In an increasingly digitalised world with a growing population, energy demand will only increase
  • Have to make it sustainable

Energy innovation presents an exciting challenge

That couldn’t be more timely

As this is a crucial point in modern history:

  • C19: disrupted BAU, reflective time
  • New investment ops through Brexit
  • World looking to us for leadership as COP26 hosts

I want to be a part of it

Q

Why are you interested in this role?

Give 4 points.

A

Unparalleled exposure the energy sector:

  • I don’t have an energy background
  • So I want to learn as much as possible
  • Role will bring me into contact with key players, experienced colleagues and new tech

Keen to build on existing project delivery experience:

  • In-demand
  • Highly transferable

I enjoy drawing insights from data and any opportunity to think creatively; this role combines those two elements perfectly

I would get satisfaction from knowing that I’m helping to solve real-world problems and that my work has tangible impact
