Generation of Electricity Flashcards
What are thermocouple harnesses made from?
The same materials as the thermocouple so that mini junctions are not formed.
What is produced at Point A on the armature of the generator?
Maximum current.
How does a piezoelectric device generate electricity?
Through pressure.
What does a photozoidal cell produce electricity from?
When subjected to light.
What type of meter is a thermocouple indicator?
A millivoltmeter.
What is a light/heat sensitive cell?
A transducer.
Any transducer turns one energy type into another energy type. In this case light or heat into electricity.
What happens to a current carrying conductor in a magnetic field?
The conductor will move downwards.
What is a component that produces an output voltage due to incident light called?
A solar cell.
What is the EMF induced if the flux density is 1.5T, length is 2m, and speed is 10m/s?
30 V.
EMF = Blv = 1.5 * 2 * 10 = 30V.
What happens when a conductor is placed in a magnetised coil?
Nothing will happen unless the conductor is moved.
When is the maximum output voltage from a basic single loop generator achieved?
When the loop is cutting maximum lines of magnetic flux.
