  1. PATHETIC FALLACY- Foreshadows the violent passions that are to be released by Othello in the new setting, or representing the violence of Iago.
  2. A device which allows Shakespeare to dispose of the external plot of the Turks and replace it with the internal threat of Iago.
  3. Iago arrives earlier because the storm aids his progress- he is in control at the new setting–> Playwright.
