Components of male reproductive system include:
testicles, epididymis, vas deferens, seminiferous tubules, prostate gland, penis
Testicles
the male gonads; make and store sperm; produce testosterone which causes the male secondary sex characteristics
Epididymis
stores the sperm
Vas Deferens
carry sperm from the epididymis to the seminiferous tubules
Seminiferous Tubules
contribute fluid to the sperm to make semen
Prostate Gland
encircles the urethra; also secretes fluid into the semen
Penis
contains the urethra; carries urine and semen outside of the body
Scrotum
a sac of skin that contains the testicles
Exam of patient with urinary problems consists of the following:
- mental exam
- abdominal exam
- examination of the penis
- testicular exam
Urinalysis
examination of the urine; assessed for pH, presence of glucose, blood cells, pus, and other debris that should not be present in the urine

specialists use radiography to watch the patient urinate in order to detect abnormalities of the process of urinating (voiding cystourethogram)
