General Terms Flashcards
Where the emitter and receiver are housed together and use the light reflected directly from the material for detection.
Diffused Sensor
Measures the point level( high/low) of a liquid.
Level sensor
measures the difference between two pressures, one connected to each side of the sensor.
Differencial pressure measurement
Sends out high-frequency sound waves that are reflected of an object to determine the position of the object.
Ultrasonic level sensor
measures the physical deformation of an object by detecting changes in electrical resistance
Strain Gauges
A compact cased device that has an electro mechanical mechanism inside that provides overload protection
MCB( miniature circuit breaker)
A device that receives data from sensors, calculates the difference between the actual value and the desired value, and adjusts outputs to control variables.
PID Controller
Uses an elctrectromagentic force generated copper coils to turn a swicth on or off
Electro mechanical relays
What is used for low voltage switches and what is used for high voltage switches
Relay and Contactor respectively
How does a PID controller compute its output
It takes the sum of Proportional control(reacts to current error), integral control ( addresses past errors), and derivative control ( predicated future errors)
What are control variables
Temperature, pressure, speed, flow rate
