Medically Futile
Treatments are contradicted because they don’t extend the life of the patient
Void
To evacuate the bowels or bladder (to poop or pee)
Nocturia
To get up at night to void
Shear
This wound occurs when a horizontal force that causes the bony prominence to move across the tissue as the skin is held in place
Friction
This wound occurs when an object is drug or rubbed across the skin
Capillary Refill
When pressure put on the skin and release (typically a finger) and you watch how quickly that skin fills back up with blood (A quick reliable method for detecting changes in blood flow that can lead his shock)
Orthostatic Hypotension
Low blood pressure that might cause dizziness, lightheaded, or fainting, when rising or sitting down
Edema
Swelling caused by too much fluid, trapped in the bodies tissue
Anasarca
Generalized swelling caused by too much fluid, trapped in the bodies tissue
Bruit
An audible vascular sound associated with turbulent blood flow
Anterior
In front of/ the front surface of the body
Posterior
In back of/ the back surface of the body
Mastication
The act or process of chewing
Ecchymosis
A small bruise caused by blood leaking from broken blood vessels into the tissue of the skin or mucus
