2nd gen Romantic poets Shelley, Byron and Keats tend to mirror Burke and Kant’s ideas of the literary sublime. Kant takes it further than Burke’s ideas of it igniting terror which can feel simultaneously pleasurable. He sees a major aspect of it being intricately connected to the rational mind and morality as mankind’s mind has the power to recognise it.
