What is the definition of Buoyancy?
A pushing force that affects matter in liquids and gases, and make the matter seem lighter. As a result, the object floats.
Name some objects that are buoyant.
A pumpkin, rubber ducky, raft and inner tube.
Name some buoyant materials.
Wood, rubber, plastic and nature.
What is the definition of Absorb?
Materials that take in, or soak up liquids.
Name some materials at home that are absorbent.
Paper towel, sponge, tissue, cloth and towel.
What is the definition of Dissolve?
Solids that seem to disappear in a liquid.
Name some solids that can dissolve in water.
Jello powder, sugar, ground coffee and salt.
What is Matter?
Matter is everything you can see, feel, taste and smell.
What is the definition of Waterproof?
Waterproof means when materials are placed in water, they do not absorb or soak the water up.
What is the definition of Float?
Things that do not sink under water, they stay on top.
What is the definition of Sink?
Things that do not float. Instead they sink down.
What does Change of State mean?
The change in matter; when a liquid freezes and changes to a solid, then it unfreezes and changes back to a liquid.
What is the definition of Freeze?
When a liquid is cooled and turns to ice.
What is the definition of Melt?
When a frozen solid is warmed and turns into a liquid.
