What does ‘Code 9’ relate to when using police radio comms?
Police member in duress / emergency.
When a job is received, what type of information do you want to request from VKC to be able to adequately respond to the job x 4?
- Time - how old is the job?
- DWA - drugs/weapons/alcohol
- Location check
- Description - suspect/offender/stolen property/Is anyone injured?
What does O.R.C stand for when attending a job?
O - Objectives
The objective is….what is priority?
R - Risks
What risks are there and how can I mitigate those risks?
C - Communication
Who am I communication the plan to and what do I need Eg. Back up.
Police writing. Should be descriptive and extensive.
Give an example for the following:
- The accused was alcohol affected.
- The person appeared to be in shock.
- The accused was unsteady on her feet, her eyes were blood shot, her speech was slurred and she smelt of intoxicating liquor.
- They were visibly shaking. Their voice was trembling and they were having trouble breathing.
Common Police writing conventions. What is an expected rule for the following:
- Surnames
- Dates
- Time
- Numbers
- Surnames should be written in capitals for operational documents.
- Dates are written in full eg 10 August 2025
- Time is in 24 hour clock
- Numbers one to nine should be written in words. Numbers 10 and up use numerals
What are the five important elements of a General Report?
- The context / circumstances
- The incident
- Action taken
- Request / Recommendation
- Transmission ( if it is to be forwarded to a third party)
What is an Issue Cover Sheet?
It is a document intending to provide a brief overview regarding an issue for the attention and approval of management.
List 3 note taking protocols:
- All entries start with time and date
- Noted need to be in chronological order
- No spaces in between entries
- Upon completion of notes endorse them with name/rank/signature/rank
- To adopt partners notes - name/rank/date of adoption/number and time/signature
