what is ethics
ethics is a system of moral principles. they affect how people make decisions and lead their lives.
what is morality
principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior
what are morals
are the principles on which one’s judgement of right and wrong are based.
what is a conscience
the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one’s conduct or motives
impelling one towards right action.
what are values
are stable long-lasting beliefs about what is important to a person. They
become standards by which people order their lives and make their choices.
what are virtues
Qualities of being morally good, a sense of moral excellence, thinking
about what is right and avoiding what is wrong.
what is judgement
the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible
conclusions.
what is moral judgement
an evaluation or opinion formed as to whether some action or
inaction, intention, motive, character trait or a person ‘as a whole’ (more or less) is
good or bad as measured against some standard of good.
what are codes of behaviour
the generally adopted rules governing how people behave, a set
of conventional principles and expectations that are considered binding on any
person who is a member of a particular group.
what is a right
–is a freedom that is protected.
what is a responsibility
– is a duty or something you should do.
what are meta ethics
looks at where our ethical
beliefs come from and what they mean.
what are applied ethics
involves examining specific controversial issues, such as
abortion, infanticide, animal rights, environmental concerns, homosexuality,
capital punishment, or nuclear war.
what are normative ethics
takes on a more practical task, which is to arrive at moral standards
that regulate right and wrong behaviour.
