- Confuse fear with disobedience

Q
If my horse is acting like a prisoner, what should I ask myself?
A
Do I…
- Trap her to catch her
- Cross tie him for grooming, saddling, etc.
- Expect her to always be quiet and obediently do what I say
- Get stronger or more forceful when he resists
- Get impatient
- Think my horse is the one who’s wrong

Q
If my horse is acting like a partner, what should I ask myself?
A
Do I…
- Try to understand my horse’s point of view
- Realize that it’s my responsibility to change my approach because I decided my horse should be my partner (bought him, adopted him, received him as a gift etc.)
- Offer the horse an idea but allow the horse to make the decision to do it
- Take the time it takes (so it takes less time)
