Canopy operations (5 rules)
1) No items to be placed on the canopy
2) signal intention to close canopy to ground crew
3) Loose article secured before opening canopy with engine running, and before starting the engine with canopy open
4) shall not open canopy in a turn
5) canopy closed and seat pin out before proceeding onto active runway for departure
Taxing formation spacing
Normal space and staggered
Depending on taxiway width, normal spacing will be 200ft
If formation adopts stagger taxi, minimal spacing may be decreased to 2 aircraft length
No rolling take off unless
Low JBI or new unbedded brakes that will not allow a proper engine run up
Minimal spacing between aircraft stream
15 Sec between single aircraft or formation elements
Student G limit
-2 to + 6G
Force landing after take off has little chance of success below what airspeed
300kts at the time of engine failure
No PFL permitted when total fuel weight on board is more than
2000lbs
Minimum fuel
VFR ops minimum fuel must cater for any contingencies necessary for the conditions at the time but shall not be less than…
400lbs at initial (min fuel)
300lbs at landing (emergency fuel)

Off after landed and exited the runway
Video tape recorder procedure for cross country
On prior to T/O until TOP of climb
Prior to commencement of descent until aircraft exited the runway
Emergency scenario
Airspace entry procedure comms
a broadcast call with intention shall be made before entering frog bronson mallard beaver or any northern airspace
“Frog bronson, Zulu 21 entering from the north conducting ACM for the next 45mins”
Brake chute practice
No streaming of chute unless last wave and pre coordinated with Dos
Engine warm up procedure (post start up)
Inform SQN ops and atc ground of runup
Inform ground crew with hand signal and wait for their go ahead
Aircraft will be park brake off, toe brake on, chocked and canopy closed. Check no aircraft on either side conducting external check
Ground Crew will signal clearance with hand signal
Ground Crew will signal if at anytime the need to terminate the run is required
After run up successful, inform Dos with actual idle RPM post warm up; if not successful report fault
