Overcard River giving unique straights

Sizing Scheme and value threshold?

Overall bf and how does this change by the nature of the rivered straight

A

66/shove

66 - Anything which chops with the strongest hand they will normally have e.g. AJ on J925K or KQ on JT25Q

Shove - Top 2, but is very context dependent. When one unique straight gets there, thresh is often set+ and very little shoving occurs

On runouts where AK gets there top 2 is thresh

Around 70%-

On rivers where only a few straight get there 60% of range may go through 66 and 10% thouggh shove

On rivers where lots of unique straights complete, may become as much as half and half

What effects the previous 2 things?
What is going on with nut hands?
A

Size = 66%

BF and Value range is strongly effected by whether the bb turns one or 2 straight. In particular JTQ lowers bf to 43% and sees far less top pair and 2 pair betting

80% of top pair on most overcards turns

On A turns A89 tend to be mainly checked
On other turn Top pair 4 and 5 kickers tend to mix 50%

PP beneath top pair is pure bet

Single High Card Flop BU Bet, call Turn higher than second pair making 2 straights possible Check, check River Brick (non broadway, non flush or 4 straight) Check, IP Value Region? What makes good bluffs as IP
Value • In Theory, any second pair should be good if opponent is 1. Betting almost all top pair 2. Blocking almost all second pair * In practice, I would think sptk + is probably a more robust strategy * That being said, one of the major drivers of not betting second pair is the danger of x raise and x raise bluff which most people will not do enough Bluff • Good cards for bluffing ○ Blocking the straight in any way ○ Blocking missed fd in any way

Pot and Block, 140% raise Value • Pot ○ PP below top pair + ○ Almost all top pair § In practice, working more top pair into block to deal with raises is probably a good idea • Block ○ Flopped second pair+ ○ Strong value blocking bluff catchers e.g. top 2 or KQ on k high blocking QQ * Some 2 pair with top and non second pair is checked but is infrequent play * All 2 pair not blocking top and second pair is in x raise Check Calling ``` • Good check calling hands: ○ Low cards ○ Blocking missed fd ○ Some stronger ace high should be mixed 50/50 ○ Ace ``` • Bad cards: ○ High cards like kx qx tend to make pairs favour fold

47
HJ single high card flop, cbet 1/3, call Turn brick, check, check River Brick, OOP bet IP calling tendencies?

BU vs BB Q single high card flop, cbet 1/3, call Turn brick, check, check River Brick, OOP check IP strat? bluffing tendancy?
IP vs X • 66% • All, but weakest top pair (basically can't be a mistake to bet top pair) • Very little bluffing • Really looking for cards unblocking folds • Or hands that should have barelled turn • Some weaker ace x pure bluffs if it blocks low straights In general, qx bluffs at lower frequency as AQ will often be a high % x fold Low cards preferred for bluffing, Cards which block turn draws
49
HJ vs BB single high card flop, cbet 1/3, call Turn brick, check, check River Brick, OOP check, IP bet Good cards for calling?
OOP vs x bet • Good cards to hero call ○ Ace ○ Low cards like low pairs are very good ○ Not ace high almost ever in these positions ○ Missed fd hands, but this is a super minor effect In theory xQ pairs are good because Qx shouldn't bluff blocking AQ folds... in theory

BU vs BB, single high card, check, bet 33, call Brick flush turn, check, check River is non overcard bricky Check, IP value range IP good bluffs
IP vs Check Value • Down to PP above second pair ○ In Pio can bet strong second pair, but it's not something to worry about Bluffing • Blocking Flush • There is a really important element to unblock and that's the stong ace and king highs that floated flop and are just trying to check down • Usually this means that K, Q, J, T, 9 are really bad cards to have both of ○ In particulat, two Broadway cards really kills bluffing ○ Having a Q9 or T9 usually leads to a 50/50 mix ○ Having just one of these cards usually makes something a pure bluff
59
BU vs BB, single high card, check, bet 33, call Brick flush turn, check, check River is non overcard bricky Check, bet 66 OOP strat
OOP vs bet • Good calling hands ○ Ace high + flush blocker, espcially nut flush blocker ○ Low pair + low card, especially with flush blocker ○ Ace • Good x raise bluff ○ Ace with nut flush blocker is excellent bluff raise ○ Low pairs blocking rivered straights + flush blocker are excellent check raises Having middling cards or high non ace cards is awful for playing so middling pairs are usually check fold

Unique Straights • Need to add shove size • If small number of straights get there we only shove 10% ish vs 30 pot ○ 2 pair with top pair required to shove • If loads get there Same value threshold but much more shoving and Smaller size goes to 66 Thresh for small size goes to strongest tp commonly in bb range

OOP • Vs pot ○ Usually has to defend a lot of top pair + blocker and a lot of other random catchers such as low card + low straight blocker ○ Never folds 2 pair ○ Calls mid pairs with flush blocker almost pure ○ Shoves 3rd nuts + • Vs shove ○ Calls all flushes Adds in an absolutely tiny amount of hero with pair + blocker at super low frequency

* 66 raise 140 * 30-45% bf * There's some real minutiae about what to do with 2 pair, in general I think it's best ignored Value • Flushes ○ Blocking cards 9 or lower really incentivizes almost pure check raise (especially with an ace) ○ Having a 2 negates this ○ Having broadways really makes the hand want to bet • Sets ○ Basically pure bet (there's some weird mechanics here I can't figure out which makes checking a thing) • Two Pair ○ Pure bet all but top 2 which can mix evenly (and then call obviously) • Top pair ○ Pure bet side card T+ ○ Some checking mixed in with strongest top pair NOT blocking flush Bluffing * AT seems to be the fulcrum * If the board has run out really well for bb, AT is always bluffes, AJ can be bluffed as well * If there is another high card, AT prefers to check, bluff all lower aces

HJ SRP Single high card flop, check, bet 1/3, call Flush brick turn, check, check, River Non overcard non flush OOP check, IP BF? Value Region? Good Bluffs?
IP vs Check * 66 % * BF ~ 30-35% Value • TP 10k seems to be pure bet and below seems to good to either mix half at 9 or check Bluffing • Very dependent on how high river is • Always bluff with flush blocker • Don't want to double block 88-99 without a flsuh blocker which should fold a lot • Good to block low straights • Still have to be careful on high card runnouts to not double block folding mid pairs • Wheel aces are often used as bluffs • Air wants to have about a 30% bet frequency in total on low cards • On high cards the better bluffs can become pure such as unblocking broadways and wheel aces

HJ SRP Single high card flop, check, bet 1/3, call Flush brick turn, check, check, River Non overcard non flush OOP check, IP bet 66 Good hero calling hands? Good bluff check raises?
Hero Calling • Mid pairs with a flush blocker • Just low pairs in general tend to mix about 50% call • Really strong ace high with flush blocker can mix call Bluff x raising • Mid pairs with flush blocker are extremely high frequency • Strong Ace high with flush blocker is very high frequency Mixing in Nut flush ace high and 99 with flush blocker around 50% is probably pretty decent
