What is a ‘Conurbation’?
An extended urban area, typically consisting of several towns merging with the suburbs of a central city.
What is a ‘City’?
A large or important town, it would usually have its own cathedral.
What is a ‘Town’?
A thickly populated area normally smaller than a city yet bigger than a village.
What is a ‘Village’?
A small community or a group of houses in a rural area.
What is a ‘Hamlet’?
A smaller version of a village commonly belonging to another town or village.
What is the rank of settlement hierarchy and what is the approximate population?
Hierarchy Population

What is an ‘Urban area’?
An urban area is man-made buildings or large settlements.
Why would people want to move into an urban area?
People would want to move into an urban area mainly because there are many services and is a better quality area and good quality jobs, restaurants etc.
What is a ‘Rural area’?
A rural area is natural things.
What does ‘Relief’ mean?
Relief means the height and shape of the land.
Which comes first, Latitude or Longitude?
Latitude must always come first (North and South), ALWAYS PUT THE UNIT!!!
What are ‘Contour lines’?
Contour lines are a good way of showing the height and relief on a map.
Describe the differences between a hamlet and a city.
A hamlet is a smaller version of a village consisting of a convenience store and a petrol station. However, a city is larger than a town but smaller than a conurbation. It would usually have a mall, hospital, petrol station and more. A city is more civilised with really convenient things than a hamlet. And there are more hamlets in the world than cities.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of having to live in a city? Name 3 for each.
Advantages :
- Better advantages to get job applications.
- Better quality food, restaurants, buildings etc.
- If you are hurt badly, there would be a hospital.
Disadvantages :
- The accommodation is expensive.
- There is a lot of cars and on going traffic, which causes pollution.
- Crime is often higher in a larger settlement, like a city.
What is renewable energy?
An energy source that will never run out.
