obstruction runny nose (anterior rhinorrhoea) loss of sense of smell (hyposmia) nose bleeds (epistaxis) facial pain

Quinsy
A
peri-tonsillar abcess
can occur as a complication of severe bacterial acute tonsillitis
doesn’t normally respond to AB alone, abscess needs draining
local anaesthetic and either aspirate pus or incision and drain
not pleasant but immediate relief
