General Flashcards
What is the purpose of the Containment Vessel Cooling Fans?
Provide cooling to the Containment and the equipment rooms to ensure proper operation.
What is the power supply to Containment Vessel Cooling Fans?
Non-safety power:
F1C06 for fans A, C, and E.
F1D05 for fans B, D, and F.
What is the normal flow path for Containment Vessel Cooling?
Three air handling units located on Containment 647’, west side, discharge into a distribution header that directs flow to various areas in the Containment. Three air handling units located on Containment 664’, east side, perform the same function.
How many Containment Vessel Cooling Fans are normally in service?
4 total, two on each side of Containment.
How many fans are there for each Air Handling Unit?
There are six total fans, and one fan for each air handling unit.
What system provides cooling water to the Containment Vessel Cooling Air Handling Units?
Containment Vessel Chill Water(P50).
How are the Containment Vessel Cooling Fans divided?
A, B, and C fans are located on the west side of Containment 647’.
D, E , and F fans are located on the east side of Containment 664’.
How do the Containment Vessel Cooling Fan Discharge Dampers operate in conjunction with the Containment Vessel Cooling Fans?
The Containment Vessel Cooling Fan Discharge Damper will automatically open when the associated fan is started, and close when the fan is stopped?
What type of damper is the Containment Vessel Cooling Fan Discharge Damper, and how does it fail?
The Containment Vessel Cooling Fan Discharge Damper is air-operated, and will fail closed on either a loss of air or solenoid power.
What are the automatic starts and trips for the Containment Vessel Cooling Fans?
There are NO trips, and NO automatic starts.
What will happen to a running Containment Vessel Cooling Fan if the Discharge Damper fails closed on loss of air or solenoid power?
The Containment Vessel Cooling Fan will continue to run even with a closed Discharge Damper because the fans have no automatic trips.
What will happen to cooling capability if there is a Loss of Offsite Power?
Containment Cooling capability will be lost because the fan power supplies are non-safety, and not Diesel backed.
What areas are cooled by Containment Vessel Cooling?
1) RWCU Backwash Receiving Tank Room.
2) RWCU Backwash Pump Room.
3) RWCU F/D Valve and Pump Room.
4) RWCU F/D Rooms.
5) Containment Equipment Drain Sump Room.
6) Containment Floor Drain Sump Room.
7) Various General Areas in the Containment.
