19
Q

What items are the only things that supply their own control power?

A

480 V MCCs

20
Q

When a MCC is poem does the control have indication?

A

No

21
Q

If a 480 V MCC is open does it have control power?

A

No

22
Q

What supplies normal control power to 13.8 & 4.16kV breakers and 480 V load centers?

A

125 Vdc for class and non class respectively.

23
Q

What is a SIAS load shed

A

Sheds non safety related loads from 4160 V buses. Must be manually restored.

24
Q

What causes an alternate supply breaker to trip?

A

If electric load shed signal is received from the control room
A fault occurs on the related ESF transformer
86 lockout

25
Q

What causes the normal supply breaker to trip?

A

Electric load shed signal from the control room
Alternate supply breaker is closed from the control room on B01
86 lockout

26
Q

Class 4160 automatic safety features

A

Degraded voltage- <75% instantaneously.

27
Q

What is a blackout

A

Loss of all AC power

28
Q

What is a loss of offsite power (LOOP)

A

Loss of NAN-S01&S02

Must be both.

29
Q

What is a loss of power (LOP)

A

Loss of either PBB-S04 or PBA-S03

30
Q

Describe a 4160 V lockout relay

A
Can be rest from CR
SEIS alarm in CR
Brighter than green light
Prevents DG from closing on faulted bus
A trip also prevents closing other supply breakers
31
Q

What safety feature does the B train 4160V switchgear have that makes it special

A

Allows the operator to shutdown and isolate from the control room in case of control room fire

32
Q

What are the ESF transformer indications

A

Hot oil temp-top of trx
Hot spot indicator-measures high voltage winding temp
Level indicator- measures tank oil level

33
Q

ESF phase and ground over current

A

Causes a lockout if excessive current is detected in the neutral-ground on secondary side of transformer winding.
Also trips a lockout relay on NAN-S03, PBA-S03, PBB-S04

34
Q

What is an ESF transformer differential

A

Monitors current leaving NAN-S03 and checks for a difference between PBA-S03 & PBB-S04.
A difference trips a lockout relay and opens the breakers mentioned.

35
Q

ESF automatic transfer relay

A

Monitors cooling power supply and initiates auto transfer to alternate power upon loss of normal aux power
Initiates an alarm locally and in the control room.

36
Q

What is BOP ESFAS

A

Balance of plant engineered safety feature actuation system
(Starts DG in emergencies)
(Sequences loads and opens proper valves in emer situation)

37
Q

How does the PB system respond to a loss of it’s associated support systems?

A

Loss of 4160 V bus= DG unavailability, even from opposite train
If dc control power lost, must be manually operated and no trip protection or CR indication available.
Causes loss of one train and relies on one train for safe shutdown

38
Q

What are the automatic features associated with the PG/PH systems?

A

SIAS load shed panels

39
Q

What are the ESF transformer indications?

A

Hot oil temperature
Hot spot temp indicator
Liquid level indicator

40
Q

ESF service transformer protection- sudden pressure relay

A

Detects rapid pressure increase in transformer caused by pressure increase
Trips lockout relay (trips transformers high side breaker)

41
Q

What are the three positions of class load center circuit breakers?

A

Operating
Test
Withdrawn

42
Q

What do load centers do?

A

They transform 4160 V to 480V for distribution throughout the plant.
Naturally cooled until temp>180*C then forced air natural circ

43
Q

Why do non class 480 V load centers have a KIRK key interlock but not class 480 V?

A

This provides a method for working on a single load center while still supplying power to other MCCs

44
Q

What’s the purpose, operation and location of the class load center feeder breakers?

A

Supplies power to the LC 480 V
On secondary side of the 4160/480 V bus
Breaker trip causes a lockout that can be reset locally and from the control room.

45
Q

What is the cooling method for the unit aux transformer

A

Forced air natural circulation

Single bank of cooling with one backup

46
Q

What are the class 480V MCC breaker positions?

A

On
Off
Tripped (only occurs on ground fault)

47
Q

What is the method for cooling for the main transformer?

A

Forced oil and air
First bank starts when energized
Second @70C
Third @75
C
