Q

What is the mechanism of splicing

A
  • GU is the splice donor site and U1 binds here
  • A is a branch site and the binding location of U2
  • U4,5 and 6 will then bind to the donor splice site where U5 pulls everything together at the acceptor splice site (AG)
  • Will then bring together branch and donor splice site and the cleavage of the intron is complete
