Mitsos and Browne

A

72% of girls achieved 5A*-C grade GCSEs compared to 64% of boys- Department for Education 2013/14.
Indicates that boys do not receive the same treatment in Education, do not have the same ability to do well.
Mitsos and Browne explain that this has occurred because boys take longer to mature than girls, and at the time of GCSEs they are at a disadvantage because they are unable to concentrate for long periods of time, and also do not have as developed language skills, putting them in inequality.
