- Despite differences of upbringing and experience

Define gender bias:
-tendency to treat one individual or group in a different way due to being either male or female
Define androcentrism:
- Male-centred
- Behaviour is judge according to male standard
What can occur by androcentrism?
-Female behaviour is judged to be abnormal by comparison
Define alpha bias:
- Overestimates/exaggerates difference between sex
- Enhance or undervalue member of either sex (normally females)
Define beta bias:
- Ignore or minimise differences between the sexes
- Can occur when only one type of sex is participating in a research study
What is an example of alpha bias?
-Socialbiological theory of relationship formation

- Explains the human sexual attraction and behaviour through the principle of survival efficiency
- Male impregnate as many so genes passed on
- Female preserve her genes in order for healthy survival of few offsprings
