The process of learning expected behaviour of boys and girls in society. Bryne found that teachers encourage boys to be tough and show initiative whereas girls are encouraged to be quiet helpful tidy. Boys more likely to choose practical subjects whereas girls choose passive creative subjects

How has gender identity and peer pressure led to gender differences in subject choice?
A
Can be influenced by peer group pressure where boys and girls apply pressure to behave in a certain way and select certain subjects. E.g. boys opt out of drama and music since it doesn’t fall within gender domain and attract negative response from peers.
