Gen 05 Flashcards
Define Airspace Reservation
A defined VOLUME of airspace normally under the JURISDICTION of one aviation authority and TEMPORARILY reserved, by COMMON AGREEMENT, for EXCLUSIVE use of another. (MATS v40 1.1.1.3)
Define Controlled Airspace
An airspace of DEFINED DIMENSIONS within which ATC service is provided IAW the airspace CLASSIFICATION. (MATS v40 1.1.1.5)
Define Control Area (CTA)
Controlled airspace extending upwards from a specified limit ABOVE THE EARTH, excluding OCA. (MATS v40 1.1.1.5)
Define Control Zone (CTR)
Controlled airspace extending upward from the SURFACE of the earth to a specified UPPER LIMIT. (MATS v40 1.1.1.5)
Define Danger Area
Airspace of DEFINED DIMENSIONS, above the land area or TERRITORIAL waters of a STATE, within which activities of POTENTIAL DANGER to an aircraft MAY exist. (MATS v40 1.1.1.6)
Define Flight Information Region (FIR)
Airspace of DEFINED DIMENSIONS within which flight information and ALERTING services are provided. (MATS v40 1.1.1.8)
Define Prohibited Area
Airspace of DEFINED DIMENSIONS above the land area or TERRITORIAL waters of a STATE, within which the flight of an aircraft is PROHIBITED.
Note: Designation is appropriate on for reasons of MILITARY NECESSITY. (MATS v40 1.1.1.18)
Define Restricted Area, and identify the parameters of condition status RA1, RA2, and RA3
Restricted Area: airspace of DEFINED DIMENSIONS above the land areas or TERRITORIAL waters of a STATE, within which the flight of an aircraft is restricted IAW specified CONDITIONS.
RA1: Pilots MAY flight plan through the RA and under NORMAL circumstances EXPECT a clearance from ATC.
RA2: Pilots MUST NOT flight through the RA UNLESS route SPECIFIED in ERSA GEN FPR or under AGREEMENT with the Department of Defence, however a clearance from ATC is NOT ASSURED. other tracking may be offered through the RA on a TACTICAL basis.
RA3: Pilots MUST NOT flight plan through the RA and clearances WILL NOT be available. (MATS v40 1.1.1.20)
In order, who has priority for the use of the manoeuvering area or airspace:
1: An aircraft in a state of EMERGENCY including being subject to UNLAWFUL INTERFERENCE.
2: MULTI-ENGINED aircraft which has suffered the LOSS of an engine and has NOT been subjected to and EMERGENCY PHASE.
3: An aircraft KNOWN to have suffered FAILURE of RADIO communications.
4: An aircraft that has declared itself a MERCY flight.
5: An aircraft participating in SAR, MEDEVAC or FER flight.
6: An aircraft operating under the police callsign POLAIR RED (FEDPOL RED) and engaged in operations where life is at risk.
7: An aircraft engaged in PERSONAL transport of STATE and GOVERNMENT dignitaries, and the Governor General or PM. (MATS v40 2.3.1.2)
