What are the two types of Shlichus? (Rav Kaye Night Seder)
Yada Arichta or ha’avarat samchut (just giving authority, not becoming like the meshaleiach). The former is by Korban Pesach, the latter an example is terumah.
What is unique about hamotzei?
It isn’t chal on a species of food but rather on a type of eating, eating defined by its sova quality. (See Brachos 41b, Tosfos הלכתא דברים הבאים בתוך הסעודה מחמת הסעודה.)
Why do you make a hagafen on wine drunk during the meal?
Wine’s chashivus prevents it from being “part of the meal.” It needs a ma’aseh shevach on its own. Thus, you don’t make it if you dip bread into it since then you have Ikkar vTafel and we no longer view wine as its own entity which demands shevach whatsoever.
