women had more working opputunities, there were also work based creches, after school care and other facilities so women could take a full part in production and reproduction
how did education change industrially
nearly all schools changed into comprehensive ‘polytechnic’ schools with close links to industry( a few specialised schools remained)
‘Twinning’ arrangements between schools and factories meant that young people gained practical work experiance, and were encouraged to identify as working class
how did education change for the classes
youth at school encouraged to identify with the working class
possibility of studying as an adult
those from disadvantaged backgrounds were given generous scholarships meaning they could go to university and the numbers of people at university from ‘non-traditional’ backgrounds increased
those from higher classes were discriminated against, and many barred from their chosen careers
