GCSE Revision Cards Flashcards
What is the difference between renewable and non-renewable resources
Non-renewable resources can only be used once whereas renewable resources last forever
Name 4 examples of renewable energy resources
1) Wind 2) The sun (solar) 3) Hydro-electricity 4) Geothermal
Name two of the non-renewable energy resources
1) Fossil fuels 2) Nuclear fuel
What are Bio-fuels
Bio-fuels are a different type of fossil fuel that are natural and easier to come by
How are bio-fuels made
Bio-fuels are created from plant products or animal dung
Why do people want to use renewable energy over non-renewable energy
Non-renewables are bad for the environment and will run out one day whereas many people want to use renewables as it is better for the environment
What is the difference between mass and weight
Mass is just the amount of matter (stuff) in an object. Whereas weight is the force acting on an object due to gravity
What is mass measured in
Mass is measured in kg (kilograms)
What is weight measured in
Weight is measured in N (Newtons)
What is the formula you use to calculate how far you have travelled
Distance travelled (m) = speed (m/s) x time (s)
What is acceleration
Acceleration is how quickly you’re speeding up
What is the formula you use to find the average acceleration of an object
Acceleration (m/s2) = change in velocity (m/s) / time taken (s)
Or
🔺V
A= ——–
T
What is deceleration
Deceleration (when something slows down) is just a negative acceleration
What is uniform acceleration
It’s just constant acceleration
What is the equation for uniform acceleration
2 2 2 2 2
Final velocity (m/s) - initial velocity (m/s) = acceleration (m/s) and distance (m)
Or
2 2
V - U = 2as
