GCSE-Pressure Flashcards
1
Q
What is pressure?
A
It is the force acting per square metre perpendicular to the force.
2
Q
What is the equation for pressure?
A
P = F / A
where F is the force acting and A is the area PERPENDICULAR to that force through which the force is acting.
3
Q
What is the standard unit for pressure?
A
The Pascal (Pa)
1 Pa = 1 N/m2
4
Q
Can other units be used for pressure?
A
If A is measured in cm2 then pressure could be stated in N/cm2.
If A is measured in mm2 then pressure could be stated in N/mm2.
