Gcse Practicals Flashcards
1
Q
Describe how you would determine the density of a regularly shaped object
A
- Measure length, width and depth using a ruler/tape measure
- Calculate volume by using l x w x d
- Measure the mass using a balance/scales
- Density=Mass/volume or D=M/V
2
Q
Describe how you would find the density of an irregularly shaped object.
A
1- Use a balance to find the mass of the object
2- Place water in measuring cylinder and record volume
3- Place the object in the water, the change in volume is the volume of the object
4- Use the formula D=M/V
5- Precautions- Avoid splashing, ensure it is completely covered and read bottoms of meniscus.
