What does it mean by step and leap notes?
the same as conjunct or disjunct
Step notes are near to each other and leap notes are far apart.
What is a whole tone scale?
six notes, all a tone apart.
What is a motif?
a short melody.
What is a monophonic melody?
Music with a single melody line only. There can be multiple instruments or singing but they all are singing the exact melody in unison.
What is an octave melody?
The same melody is played simultaneously in different pitches 8 notes apart.
What is a homophonic melody?
All parts move together as chords or melody and chordal accompaniment.
What is a polyphonic melody?
Music that consists of two or more melodic lines simultaneously played.
What is a heterophonic melody?
the simultaneous performance of two or more slightly different versions of the same melody.
What is an imitative melody?
the melody copied in another part.
