  • mother had a dream with white elephant holding lotus leaf went round her 3 times and entered her womb - interpreters said he would be great king or religious leader - took 7 steps and lotus flowers bloomed - When born Siddhartha said “this is the final birth there are no more rebirths” - his mother died 7 days after birth - he was shielded from suffering in the palace - married yasodhara at 16 - gave birth to son rahula at 29
