What is an hierarchical bussines structure?
Top:owners
Middle: managers and supervisors
Bottom: subordinates
Higher position=higher wages
-Communication between too and bottom is difficult
-narrow span of control(more effective with managers to employees)

What is the difference between full time and part time?
The number of hours worked in full time os more than a part time
What is the benefit of part time workers
They save money whilst still meeting customer demands.
What are the disadvantages of part time workers?
They will incite extra costs(training, uniforms, equipment) and will have less loyalty
What are the benefits of a full time job to an employer?
Greater financial security for employer. As they will earn more money than a part timer.
What are flexible hour contracts?
Part time contracts that don’t provide guaranteed number of working hours per week.
(Only paid for hours they work) bring employee flexibility although there is little financial security
What are permanent contract?
Work indefinitely until they leave or employment terminated
What are fixed-term contracts?
Temporary
What is a freelancer?
An self employed individual hired by others for specific short term task that requires highly specialized skills

Employees who already work within the business. Which helps motivate them. Means business is aware of candidates ability’s and track records. Candidates know they will

Recruiting people from outside the business. This brings a wider range of new skills and experiences. Causing an increase in innovation and productivity

-Employees starting work need training to know what to do

Performance reviews is when
1. Workers set target to compete for year
2. Then during year receive training to help them meet targets
3. At end of year, discus how well the targets were met. If good then reward . Bad means improvements

-makes them more productive, so they become better and faster at there job
-helps staff stay up to date with changes(In technology)
-help staff stay more motivated, shows firm is interested and willing to help improve staff. Increasing staff retention
What is a flat structure?
-there’s short chain of command
- quick communication between bottom and too
- wide span of control difficult to manage. Manage lots of employees effective
What is a centralised structure?
Where major decisions are mad at the top of structure
-by poeple who have lots of experience
-but it may slow down decision making from two or one poeple. May take longer time to filter through employees.
-senior managers can become very powerful and make poor decisions
What is a decentralised structure?
Authority is short and out to regional and junior employees
Use expecting knowledge of their sector to make quick decision. Without needing to communicate to managers
So managers make less decisions
So less for central office for deduction making . decreasing costs
