What is GDP
It is total value of goods and services a country produces in a year. It is measured in us dollars per year
What is GDP per capita
The GDP divided by the total population. It shows average wealth per person. $Us per person per year
What is GNI
The total value of goods and services produced by a country. US$/year per person
What is the poverty measure
The % of people who live in poverty
Inequality measure
How equally shared wealth is shared in a country. Between a score of 0(everyone is equal) and 100(inequality)
Access to safe drinking water
The percentage of people with access to water within 1km of their home
Literacy rate
Percentage of population aged over 15 who can read
Human Development Index
It includes the countries health, wealth and education(life expectancy). It is scored between 0 and 1 with 1 being the best
Corruption perception index
A measure of the level of openness in a government. A low score(0) is corrupt and a good score(10) means honest and open.
Gender Inequality index
A number that shows the status of women in society. The higher the score, the better.
Population structure
The number(Percentage) of people in a country in each age group. It also shows the percentage of males/females.
Demographic data
All data linked to population changes: birth rate, death rate etc.
Birth rate
Number of lives births per 1000 people per year
Fertility rate
Average number of births per women in her reproductive life.
Maternal mortality
Number of mothers who dies in childbirth
Death rate
Number of deaths per 1000 people per year
Dependency rate
Proportion of people below and above normal working age. The lower the number means less people are dependent-this is good
Life expectancy
Average number of years a person can expect to live
Infant mortality
Number of children per 1000 live births who dies before their 1st birthday.
Narrow apex
Small number of elderly, low life expectancy
Curving sides
Shows a large death rate
