Q

What surgical procedure can be done to help with GERD?

A

Nissen Fundoplication- this is when a portion of the fundus is wrapped around the lower portion of the esophagus. By doing so, the LES is reinforced and the likelihood of acid being backed up into the esophagus is decreased.
