What is a diaphragmatic hernia?
A
Condition in which the bowel contents herniate into the chest, most common on left side. Also presents with hypoplasic left lung and pulmonary hypoplasia

Management of diaphragmatic hernia?
A
- Avoid high airway pressure
- Maintain 02
- Avoid bag and mask ventilation to prevent over distention of intestines
- NGT to decompress stomach
- Arterial/central access
- stabilise until surgery

What is oesophageal atresia with/without fistula?
A
Congenital anomaly in which the oesophagus ends in a blind pouch rather than connecting to the stomach.

Symptoms of Oesophageal atresia?
A
Excess oral secretions Abdo distension Frothy, white bubbles in the mouth. Coughing or choking when feeding. Vomiting. Blue color of the skin, especially when the baby is feeding

What is Intestinal Atresia?
A
a malformation where there is a narrowing or absence of a portion of the intestine
