Gastroschisis vs omphalocele
A
- gastroschisis: ant abdominal wall defect lateral to umbilical cord. Associated with socioecomomic deprivation. Can do vaginal delivery but newborns need theatre within 4 hours of birth
- omphalocoele: protrusion through ant abdo wall within amniotic sac/ peritoneum. Associated with downs. Need C section then staged repair
