What is the vector for rotavirus?
Contaminated water and food
What is the vector for noravirus?
Ingestion of faecal matter - food, water.
Shellfish also.
What is the presentation of rotavirus?
Acute fever and vomiting.
Then latent watery diarrhoea.
What is the presentation of noravirus?
Sudden onset diarrhoea and vomiting.
What bacteria can cause haemolytic uraemic syndrome?
E. coli 0157
What is the triad of features in haemolytic uraemic syndrome?
AKI
Microangiopathic haemolytic anaemia
Thrombocytopenia
What supportive management should be used in haemolytic uraemic syndrome?
Fluids
Transfusions
Dialysis if necessary
What 3 drug types should be avoided in haemolytic uraemic syndrome?
